ZOOZ Fitness Brings Inclusive Movement to Loyola Marymount University

October 14, 2025

At the beginning of October, Jake, founder of ZOOZ Fitness, was joined by Emma (ZOOZ’s Board Certified Behavior Analyst), Travis (coach and social media manager/partnerships), and Sam, a longtime ZOOZ athlete, for a visit to Loyola Marymount University (LMU), where they spoke with students in a Disability 101 class about the power of inclusive fitness and movement.

The class of more than a dozen students listened as the ZOOZ team shared how access to fitness opportunities can make a profound difference for people with disabilities—physically, mentally, and socially.

Jake kicked things off by introducing the ZOOZ mission and sharing eye-opening statistics about the lack of inclusive fitness opportunities across the country.

“Only about 16% of adults with disabilities meet recommended physical activity levels,” Jake explained. “At ZOOZ, we believe fitness is for every body. Movement isn’t just about strength—it’s about confidence, connection, and quality of life.”

Next, Emma brought in her expertise as a BCBA, explaining how consistent physical activity can support emotional regulation, reduce anxiety, and promote positive behaviors.

“Fitness can be a game-changer for emotional and mental well-being,” Emma said. “We see our athletes light up—not just because they’re exercising, but because they’re part of a community that celebrates their effort and growth.”

After Emma, Coach Travis talked about partnerships and ZOOZ’s efforts to bring our athletes into the community and make a broader impact beyond the gym.

The highlight of the visit came from Sam, a ZOOZ athlete for the past several years, who shared her personal story of transformation. She spoke about how ZOOZ has helped her physically and socially.

“ZOOZ has really helped my posture and my knees,” Sam shared with a smile. “But the best part is the people. I love coming to see my friends and being part of the community. My favorite exercise is the dead hang—it makes me feel strong!”

After the discussion, the ZOOZ team got everyone moving. They led the class through a series of fun movement drills and games, showing that inclusive fitness can be both empowering and accessible to everyone. The room was filled with laughter, energy, and a shared sense of purpose.

“We want everyone—no matter their ability—to experience the joy of movement,” Jake said as the session wrapped up. “That’s what ZOOZ is all about.”
