Not even a torrential downpour could stop ZOOZ Fitness from kicking off its brand-new Run Club on Saturday, April 26, at Balboa Park.

Though the rain kept most indoors, one determined athlete, Gabriel, still showed up ready to move.

“I was so excited to run with ZOOZ, but we got rained on,” Gabriel said. “I can’t wait for the next meet-up to actually run!”

ZOOZ partnered with Christian Harris and his team at Move Fast Lift Heavy for our very first Run Club event. A big thank you to them for designing the flyers and helping spread the word within their community!

What is the ZOOZ Run Club?

The ZOOZ Run Club was created by Jake, ZOOZ’s founder, and Jared, the Director of Fitness, following their own inspiring journey training for—and completing—their first marathon this April. Their goal? To create a space where ZOOZ athletes could build community and enjoy movement outside of the gym.

“There was no better way to expand our community than by launching a run club,” Jake said. “It gives our athletes a chance to socialize and move their bodies in a fun, inclusive way.”

The Run Club meets once a month and is open to the entire community. ZOOZ's goal is to connect our athletes with each other and people in the community, share our passion for running, and build new relationships along the way. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting out, we welcome everyone to come run with us.

What to Expect

At each meet-up, participants can run, walk, or wheel one of three distances: one mile, two miles, or a full 5K.

“Athletes are encouraged to do whatever feels best for them,” Jake said. “Whether it’s running three miles or simply hanging out with friends and family at our ZOOZ tent — everyone is welcome.”

This initiative is part of ZOOZ’s larger mission to foster community connections and promote health and wellness. Earlier this year, ZOOZ athletes and trainers completed the Spartan Stadion Race at Dodger Stadium, and more events are on the horizon.

“We’re looking to create even more opportunities like this — whether it’s a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or full marathon,” Jake said.

Looking Ahead

Despite the rainy start, the ZOOZ Run Club is off and running — and its future looks bright.
