Mud, obstacles, teamwork, and a whole lot of determination!
A dozen ZOOZ athletes and 16 coaches crawled, climbed, carried, ran, walked, and pushed the limits at this year’s Temecula Spartan Race — marking the third time ZOOZ Fitness has taken on a Spartan race as a team.
Throughout the six-mile course, athletes and coaches worked side by side to tackle a series of challenging obstacles, including the Atlas Carry, Barbed Wire Crawl, Bucket Carry, Hercules Hoist, and Spear Throw.
And the obstacles were only part of the challenge. Between them, the ZOOZ crew hurried across miles of rugged terrain, getting plenty muddy and dirty along the way.
But for ZOOZ, Spartan races have never been just about crossing the finish line. They’re an opportunity for athletes to challenge themselves, put the skills and strength they’ve developed in the gym to work, and experience what can happen when a community takes on something difficult together.
Every athlete approached the course differently. Coaches worked alongside athletes, adapting obstacles when needed, offering support, and encouraging athletes to push themselves throughout the race. From helping one another over obstacles to celebrating each accomplishment along the course, teamwork was at the center of the day.
For ZOOZ founder Jake Weiner, watching athletes take on a challenge like Spartan is a reminder of why ZOOZ exists.
“Watching our athletes take on a Spartan race is incredible because you get to see so much of what we work on at ZOOZ come together outside the gym,” Jake said. “They’re using their strength, confidence, and teamwork to take on something that is genuinely hard. What makes me most proud is seeing everyone support one another and cross that finish line together. That’s what ZOOZ is all about.”
By the end of the race, everyone may have been exhausted, muddy, and ready for a shower — but they had also accomplished something pretty incredible together.
Three Spartan races down, and we already can’t wait for the next one!
There’s no better way to close out summer than with good food, live music, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, the ZOOZ community. On Sunday, ZOOZ athletes, parents, families, caregivers, coaches and friends came together for our first-ever Summer Nights at ZOOZ, an evening dedicated to celebrating the people who make our community so special. At ZOOZ Fitness, strength has always meant more than just physical fitness. It’s about community, confidence, and creating spaces where people feel supported.
