Training & Sessions

How do I book a group class?

All group classes are booked through the ZOOZ Fitness Training app.

Do you offer trial sessions?

Yes. ZOOZ Fitness offers a first time trial session to determine if the program is a good fit. Contact the gym to schedule.

My athlete is non-verbal, is that okay?

Completely. Our coaches train for adaptive work and meet every athlete where they are.

What is the difference between individual and semi-private training?

Individual sessions are one coach, one athlete. Semi-private sessions pair two athletes with one coach. Both formats are fully adaptive and personalized. Semi-private works well for athletes who are motivated by having a training partner and do better in a shared environment.

How long is each session?

Sessions are available in 45 or 60 minutes. Your coach will recommend the right length based on your athlete’s goals, stamina, and focus. Most athletes start with 45-minute sessions.

Does my athlete need prior fitness experience?

No. Both individual and semi-private training are built for athletes at every starting point. The program adapts to where your athlete is right now, regardless of background or experience level.

How often should my athlete train?

Most athletes train one to three times per week. Your coach will help you find the right frequency based on your athlete’s goals, energy, and schedule.

What types of training do you offer?

Private Training

  • 45 minute one on one sessions
  • 60 minute one on one sessions

Group Classes

  • Circuit Training, Zumba, Yoga, Boxing, and more

See our Group Classes page for the full list of classes.

How do I start booking sessions?

To book training sessions, you must first become a ZOOZ Fitness client. After receiving your login information, download the ZOOZ app (“ZOOZ Fitness Training”) from the App Store or Google Play.

How do I book a private session?

Private sessions can be requested by messaging the main ZOOZ Fitness account through the app. Sessions may be requested if you are a private pay client with a current training package, or if Regional Center funding for private sessions has already been approved.

How do I cancel or reschedule a session?

Sessions can be canceled or rescheduled through the app. If you need more help, contact ZOOZ Fitness at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations may be subject to a fee.

What if my athlete needs extra support?

Group classes maintain a trainer to athlete ratio of 1:4. If one on one support is required, athletes should attend with a caregiver or personal support staff member.

Who can participate in group classes?

Our classes are designed for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We offer classes for kids (ages 6–10), teens (11–17), and adults (18+), with options for athletes of all ability levels.

How many athletes are in each class?

We maintain a maximum 1:4 coach-to-athlete ratio with a maximum of 12 athletes to ensure every athlete receives individualized support while enjoying the benefits of a group environment.

How do I know which class is right for my athlete?

Our team will help you determine the best fit based on your athlete’s age, goals, interests, abilities, and support needs. Some classes are beginner-friendly, while others are designed for athletes seeking more advanced movement challenges.

Can my athlete take more than one type of class?

Absolutely. Many athletes participate in multiple classes throughout the week to experience different types of movement, build new skills, and keep fitness fun and engaging.

Do athletes need previous fitness or sports experience?

Not at all. Our group classes are designed for athletes of all ability levels. Coaches adapt activities to meet each athlete where they are, making classes welcoming for both beginners and experienced participants.

Who is Virtual Training for?

Virtual Training is available for athletes ages 6+ and all ability levels. It’s a great option for individuals who live outside our service area, prefer training at home, travel frequently, or need a more flexible schedule.

What technology do I need?

All you need is a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a reliable internet connection, a camera, and enough space to move safely during your workout.

Do I need fitness equipment at home?

No. Most Virtual Training sessions require little to no equipment. Your coach can create effective workouts using bodyweight exercises, household items, or simple equipment if available. ZOOZ can provide an equipment list upon request.

How long are Virtual Training sessions?

Most virtual sessions are 45 minutes or 60 minutes depending on the length requested and are personalized to each athlete’s goals, fitness level, and abilities.

Gym Policies & Logistics

Where do athletes wait before class?

Athletes should wait in the designated waiting area at the front of the gym until their class begins or a trainer comes to get them.

Can parents or caregivers stay during the session?

Yes. Parents and caregivers are welcome to observe sessions. We do ask that trainers be allowed to lead the session without interference.

Can I stay and watch the session?

Yes. Families are always welcome to observe from our designated waiting area behind the ZOOZ green training line.

What if my athlete has a hard day or isn’t feeling it?

Every session adapts to how the athlete shows up that day. If energy is low, the program shifts. ZOOZ coaches are experienced in reading their athletes and adjusting in real time. No session is wasted.

What should I bring to a session?
  • Comfortable athletic clothing
  • Closed toe athletic shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Any necessary support items (communication devices, braces, and so on)
What happens if my athlete is late or doesn’t show up?

Athletes arriving late may still join the session. If an athlete does not attend and the session is marked as a late cancellation, it will count as a missed session.

What if my athlete needs extra support during class?

Our coaches adapt activities and provide individualized instruction within our 1:4 coach-to-athlete ratio to help every athlete participate successfully. However, group classes are not designed to provide continuous one-on-one support. If an athlete requires dedicated one-on-one assistance to safely participate or get the most out of the class, we ask that a parent, caregiver, or support staff attend the class to provide that individualized support. This allows our coaches to effectively lead the group while ensuring every athlete has the support they need to succeed.

Will a parent or caregiver need to help?

Depending on the athlete’s support needs, a parent, caregiver, or support staff member may be asked to assist with technology setup, safety monitoring, communication, or exercise cueing. Our goal is to encourage independence while creating a safe and successful training experience.

Can I switch to in-person training later?

Absolutely. Many athletes transition between virtual and in-person training as their schedules, goals, or needs change. Our team can help determine the best option at any time.
